Part of the success of WordPress has been down to the thousands of plugins that extend the functionality of WordPress. As I write there are over 17,000 WordPress plugins, most of them are free. We have listed the 5 most common plug-ins that Creative Aspects use when building websites for our clients.
Contact Form 7
Contact Form 7 makes the process of making a contact form much easier. Its simplicity and ease of use make it a popular choice.
WordPress SEO
There are dozens of SEO plugins for WordPress, but WordPress SEO by Yoast is currently our favourite. WordPress SEO helps you optimize your page titles, meta descriptions and content as well as generating XML sitemaps and much more.
Google Analytics for WordPress
Another offering from Yoast – not only does this plugin make it simple to add your Google Analytics tracking code it also allows outbound clicks to be tracked as events which you can find in your Google Analytics reports as well as other advanced features.
Lockerz Share
Lockerz Share (previously AddToAny) makes it easy for visitors to your website to share and bookmark your content. This helps increase traffic and allows more people to see your content. Creative Aspects use the plugin on this site with our blog posts. Visitors can share on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ as well as dozens more social bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious and StumbleUpon.
WP Super Cache
In a nutshell WP Super Cache makes your WordPress website run faster. It does this by generating and serving static html files instead of having to process the heavier WordPress PHP Scripts.
