Our 5 step web design process

Designing and building a custom website requires a lot of work and planning. Our 5 step web design process gives an overview of the main stages. Here, we’ll walk you through each step so you know exactly what to expect when working together with Creative Aspects on your web design project.

Step 1: Discovery

The crucial first step in our process is the discovery phase. Before we start any design we work with you to find out about your primary business goals for the website, your ideal customer and the look and feel you want for your website design.

We will then design a logical site structure for your new website and create a sitemap. The sitemap acts as a blueprint for your site. It will give you a visual overview of the pages that will be included and an insight into the navigation of your site.

The sitemap will also help identify what content is required so that a content audit can be carried out and work can commence on preparing and creating the content in parallel with the next stage: design & development.

Step 2: Design & Development

In the design and development phase of the project, we install and set up the content management system on the server, work on the layout of your web pages so that the target audience can easily navigate and quickly find the information they are after and develop a working prototype so that all the functionality can be tested and approved in the browser.

We find that our process means we are able to show you something functional much quicker and get your feedback. You’ll be able to see how your site will perform on different devices and assess the user experience – which we know is a key factor in the success of a website. We will add all the design elements, fonts, your brand colours and incorporate your feedback to refine the design and functionality.

Finally, we will add all the content: text, photos and videos that you provide us with, or if you prefer you can work together with our copywriting partners to produce the final content.

Step 3: Testing

Once the design has been approved and the content has been added, we conduct final testing and debugging to ensure your site will look and work as expected on different browsers and devices when it goes live.

Step 4: Go Live

The steps above culminate in the site going live! This is no doubt the most exciting part of the web design process and the time where your new website will be revealed to your customers and the world. We will do further testing to make sure everything is working just as it should be.

Step 5: Ongoing Support & Maintenance

We provide training so that you can easily edit the content on the website yourself. However, websites require regular maintenance on top of content updates. This is where we can help.

We provide website care plans with essential security and support for added peace of mind. There’s no long-term contract so you can cancel anytime.
